Pad Math for Real Life

How many do I need? It's the first question everyone asks about reusable pads & liners. And honestly, there's no magic number that fits everyone.

The right count depends on your flow, how often you like a fresh change, and how often you prefer to wash them. So instead of guessing, we made this Pad & Liner Calculator for you. It asks about how you actually live and gives you an honest starting number from there.

Answer realistically, an estimate works. You can adjust anything easily, and feel free to ignore the number if you already know what you want.

A) How many days does your period usually last? 5 days

B) How many of those are your heavier days? Whatever heavier means for you. Usually the first 1 to 3 days.

C) On a heavier day, how many pads do you go through? Count the changes you'd want a reusable pad for, day and night.
On overnight: The Wing is built for daytime. For some people it's enough overnight, for many it won't be, so count your nights only if you'd use a reusable pad for them, and otherwise plan your nights with whatever already works.

D) On your lighter days, how many pads do you go through? Even if one could last all day, count how many you change for freshness.
A note on changing: skin does better when it stays dry. Moisture builds up from more than blood, sweat and natural discharge count too, and that buildup is what causes irritation. It's a good habit to change before a pad feels full no matter what you use.

E) Days of spotting before or after Combined total, not counted in your period days above. If you spot 1 day before and 2 after, put 3.

F) What percent of your period do you want to use reusables? 100 means fully reusable. 50 means half reusable, half disposable. 100%

G) How often will you wash? Washing more often means fewer pads on rotation. We add a day for air drying.
The Wing and The Stay Liner are ultra thin and breathable, so they can air dry fast. However, the drying speed still depends on things like temperature and humidity. In our West Coast Canada climate, The Stay Liner air dries in as little as 2 to 4 hours, and The Wing anywhere from 2 to 24 hours depending on temperature and humidity.
